Anthropic
has announced the rollout of Claude Cowork, a new workspace experience
designed to help users collaborate with its AI assistant across multiple
devices. The feature is being introduced on the web, Android and iPhone,
allowing users to begin a task on one device and continue working on another without
losing progress.
The new
capability enables Claude to continue processing requests even after a user
closes their laptop or leaves the application. Instead of requiring users to
remain connected throughout long-running tasks, Claude Cowork can complete work
in the background and deliver the results when users return, creating a more
seamless workflow for research, writing and other time-intensive projects.
The rollout
will begin as a beta for Claude Max subscribers over the next several
weeks. Anthropic said access will gradually expand to additional paid
subscription plans after the initial testing phase, allowing more users to
experience the new collaborative workspace.
As part of
the update, Anthropic is combining its Chat and Cowork experiences into a
single interface. Users will be able to manage conversations, projects and
generated artifacts from one workspace, making it easier to organize ongoing
tasks and switch between different devices without interruption.
The company
is also extending increased Cowork usage limits through August 5, giving
eligible subscribers additional capacity while the feature is in beta.
Anthropic said the expanded limits are intended to help users explore the new
experience before broader availability.
Alongside
the Cowork rollout, Anthropic confirmed that Claude Fable 5 will be
available to a limited number of eligible paid users as part of its gradual
deployment strategy. The company continues to introduce access in phases while
monitoring performance and gathering user feedback.
The launch
reflects a broader shift in AI productivity tools, where companies are moving
beyond traditional chatbot interactions toward assistants capable of managing
longer workflows across multiple devices. Features such as background task
execution, synchronized workspaces and persistent projects are becoming
increasingly important as AI platforms compete to support professional and
enterprise users.
With Claude
Cowork, Anthropic is aiming to provide a more flexible way for users to
interact with AI throughout the day, allowing work to continue even when they
move between desktop and mobile devices. The update also strengthens
Anthropic's position in the growing market for AI-powered productivity
software, where seamless cross-device experiences are becoming a key area of
competition.
